2024 Growth, Gratitude, and Gorgeous Textiles

2024 Growth, Gratitude, and Gorgeous Textiles

2024 has come to a close, and I can't help but to look back with immense gratitude and look forward with excitement. This year has been a whirlwind of color, creativity, connection—and a smidge of chaos (if you know me, you know).

From vintage kantha quilt Blanket Coats to one-of-a-kind sari Dumpling Bags, your love for sustainable, artisan-crafted fashion has kept our small business thriving. With every purchase, you've supported our original mission of growing other small businesses in a part of the world that means so much to me. Fast fashion and instant gratification have become the norm—to know there is a community that appreciates meaningful fashion and the time it takes to create—well, that's amazing.

The Moment That Captures It All: One photo says it all. Our Dhurrie Tote, taking center stage on the back of this blue truck in Jaipur's frenzied morning flower market. 2024 captured in one picture—the intensity, the growth, the emotions, and the excitement for what's to come.

Amit, our photographer, saw the shot I didn't—a chance to highlight color, chaos, and calm in the middle of it all. Sellers and buyers bustled around, horns honked, voices carried, and yet it all seemed still. I watched Amit work without boundaries and saw our young model, new to the scene, absolutely own the moment. And there I was, tearing up, realizing—everything might just be falling into place.

That moment in Jaipur? It reminded me that growth is messy, beautiful, and absolutely worth it.

The dhurrie collection was one of our first product lines and I'm anxious to renew interest in the weaving process that I'm enamored with. One of my goals for 2025 is to double, better yet triple, the number of rugs we had on the looms in 2024.

 Big Moments in 2024:

  • We opened a space in Amarillo, Texas at From Sixth Collective.
  • We moved—only next door, and still alongside Mary Lou Marks / Southern Beasts—the Textile Maven of Round Top. But it was a huge move for Sapana none the less.
  • We placed our first product order with She Has Hope, the human trafficking response organization we give back to—this was a longtime dream of mine realized. You'll hear more about this soon.
  • I found the breathing room I needed to be creative. I found the time I needed to travel to India with those new ideas and, to meet with our makers in person.
  • We had the honor of being mentioned in several publications.

Looking Ahead to 2025:

The new year is already shaping up to be even more vibrant.

Here's what you can expect:

  • Fresh Designs: Think bold colors, timeless patterns, and even more ways to wear sustainable fashion.
  • New Collaborations: We're teaming up with more makers to bring you exclusive, limited-edition pieces.
  • Community Love: Workshops, pop-ups, and events that bring us all closer (yes, in real life and online!).

Thank You for Being Part of This Journey: There was so much learning in 2024.  My biggest take away is that every step—messy or magical—is worth it. And I couldn't have taken those steps without you. Your support, enthusiasm, and belief in this dream makes all the difference. Here's to more growth, creativity, and connection in 2025.

Wishing you a joyful and colorful 2025!

P.S. Hope to see you at the Winter Show in a few weeks, January 23-26.  Come see some of what's new either at the showroom on Henkel Square or in Barn B at Blue Hills.
